About AIRG 2020

The XVI Meeting of the Avian Immunology Research Group (AIRG 2020)

The international AIRG meetings bring together academic and government researchers, students, and poultry professionals working in the field of avian immunology.  This is the only global conference that is completely devoted to avian immunology, and encompasses all aspects of poultry immunity and immune responses to disease.  The AIRG met for the first time in 1988 in Lelystad, The Netherlands, and has had meetings on a biennial basis ever since.

This meeting aims to bring the latest research on avian and poultry immunology, to act as a forum for discussing recent discoveries in the field, to exchange ideas and establish or continue active collaborations, and lastly to afford broader participation of avian/poultry scientists.  In addition to fundamental research of the bird’s immune system, avian immunology has become pivotal in uncovering mechanisms of diseases, understanding mode of action of drug alternatives, and developing better protection against diseases, thus assuring food security and safety, improving poultry welfare, and reducing the impact of zoonosis on human health.
